Most people say Indonesia and mean Bali, which is a shame — the country is far bigger and often cheaper outside its most famous island. Borobudur and the volcanoes of Java, the dragons and diving of Komodo, and the orangutans of Sumatra are all within reach of a two-week trip.
What a Indonesia trip costs in 2026
A hand-built Indonesia trip starts at ₹44,000–₹58,000 per person for 7 nights, land only and based on two people sharing. That is roughly .

Best time to visit Indonesia
The best window is April–October (dry season). Travelling either side of the peak weeks usually means the same weather, lower hotel rates and far fewer people at the main sights — which is the cheapest upgrade there is.
How many days do you need?
7 nights is the sweet spot for a first trip: long enough to settle in, short enough to stay affordable. Five nights works for a short break if you stay in one area. Ten to fourteen nights lets you slow down and add a second region — and because the per-night cost barely changes, the long trip is better value per day.
What actually moves the price
Inter-island flights are short and inexpensive, but they eat days once you count the transfers on either side. The itineraries that work pick two islands and stay put. If you want Bali plus one other, Komodo is the most rewarding add-on; if you want culture, Yogyakarta beats anywhere else in the country.
Ways to keep the cost down
Bali's south is the priciest part of Indonesia; Ubud, Amed and Java cost noticeably less for the same standard.
Internal flights on Lion Air and Citilink are cheap but strict on baggage — buy allowance in advance.
Eat at warungs and the local night markets; food is rarely the big line in an Indonesian budget.
The dry season (April–October) is both the best weather and the peak price; shoulder weeks in April and October are the sweet spot.
