Bali is many islands in one. Ubud is the cultural heart — a maze of rice terraces, artisan workshops and yoga shalas set in the jungle highlands. To the south, the Bukit peninsula holds some of the world's most consistent surf, while the north coast around Amed is quiet, volcanic and superb for diving.
Wherever you base yourself, the island runs on ceremony. Offerings called canang sari appear on doorsteps each morning, temple festivals fill the streets with gamelan, and the Balinese calendar keeps its own rhythm of celebration.
