Thailand remains the number one international destination for Indian travellers. Here is what a trip actually costs in 2026 — flights, hotels, food and the islands.

Thailand is the easiest first trip abroad there is: a four-hour flight, no visa for Indian passports, and a range of prices that genuinely runs from street food to five-star. That range is also why the cost question is confusing — two people can both say 'a week in Thailand' and mean budgets three times apart.
A hand-built Thailand trip starts at ₹45,000–₹55,000 per person for 7 nights, land only and based on two people sharing. That is roughly .
International flights, visas and travel insurance are not included.
The price excludes international flights, visa fees, travel insurance, meals not mentioned, and optional activities.
The best window is November–April. Travelling either side of the peak weeks usually means the same weather, lower hotel rates and far fewer people at the main sights — which is the cheapest upgrade there is.
7 nights is the sweet spot for a first trip: long enough to settle in, short enough to stay affordable. Five nights works for a short break if you stay in one area. Ten to fourteen nights lets you slow down and add a second region — and because the per-night cost barely changes, the long trip is better value per day.
The mistake almost everyone makes is trying to do Bangkok, Chiang Mai and the islands in one week. It is technically possible and it is not worth it: you spend two of your seven days in airports and transfers. Pick Bangkok plus one island, or the north on its own, and the trip costs less and feels longer.
