The Rann of Kutch is a salt marsh the size of a country that dries into a white desert each winter, and it is best at full moon, when the surface glows. The Rann Utsav runs from November to February with tents, crafts and folk music, and the artisan villages around Bhuj — Ajrakhpur, Nirona, Dhordo — are the real reason to come.
It pairs naturally with Gujarat's other sights: the wild ass sanctuary, Modhera's sun temple and the stepwells of Patan.
