Kenya is the classic safari, and the Masai Mara in migration season is still the most extraordinary wildlife spectacle there is. Amboseli gives you elephants under Kilimanjaro, Samburu is drier and quieter, and the Great Rift Valley's lakes hold flamingos by the million.
Most people fly home straight after the safari, which is a mistake — Diani and the Lamu archipelago are some of the best coastline in the Indian Ocean, and a beach finish is exactly what a safari needs.
