Jordan is small and perfectly formed for a week: Amman's Roman theatre and food scene, Jerash's colonnades, Petra — which deserves two days, not one — and Wadi Rum's desert, where you sleep in a bubble camp under more stars than you have ever seen. The Dead Sea and the Red Sea's diving at Aqaba finish it off.
It is one of the safest and easiest countries in the region to travel, and the people are famously welcoming. The Jordan Pass covers the visas and most of the sights.
