Himachal is India's summer mountain: Shimla's colonial ridge, Manali and the Solang valley, Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj where the Dalai Lama lives, Spiti's cold desert and Kasol's river camps. In winter the skiing at Solang and Kufri is the most accessible in the country.
The state is big and the roads are slow, so the itinerary is really about picking one valley and doing it properly rather than stringing five together.
