Greece is two holidays in one: the ancient world of Athens, Delphi and the Peloponnese, and the islands — the Cyclades for whitewashed drama, Crete for space and food, the Ionian for green water and easy sailing. Athens deserves two days even if you are only passing through, because the Acropolis at opening time is one of the great experiences in Europe.
