Georgia has become the surprise favourite of the last few years: Tbilisi's crumbling art-nouveau streets and sulphur baths, the Caucasus mountains around Kazbegi and Svaneti, the cave town of Uplistsikhe and the Black Sea coast at Batumi.
It is also where wine was invented — 8,000 years of it, fermented in clay qvevri — and the food is generous, unfamiliar and excellent. Cheap flights and a visa-free entry for Indians make it an easy yes.
