Egypt is the oldest tourist destination in the world and it still delivers: the Pyramids at Giza, the Egyptian Museum, and then the Nile, where Luxor's Karnak and the Valley of the Kings are simply unlike anywhere else. Aswan is slower and greener, and Abu Simbel is worth the early start.
The Nile cruise is the classic way to do the south, and for once the cliché is right — waking up to a temple you can walk to from the boat is hard to beat. We also build the Red Sea in, because the diving at Ras Mohammed is world class.
