The Andamans are the beach holiday India does not get enough credit for: Radhanagar on Havelock is a genuinely world-class beach, Neil Island is quieter still, and the diving and snorkelling at Elephant Beach and Barren Island's volcano are the best in the country.
It takes a flight to Port Blair and a ferry to the islands, which keeps it uncrowded. The season is short and the good resorts book out months ahead.
